Charcoal drawing of Bird

Charcoal drawing of Bird
Drawn: 2 June 2013
Age: 15

I used a normal HB pencil to get the basic structure/tone of the bird, and then used a mont marte charcoal pencil on top to create darker tones and shades.

Took approximately 3 hours to draw! (was it worth it? maybe..)
Birds are a great way to practice tone differentiation (in my opinion at least) so go try drawing a bird! Yay!

Icy Dragon

Icy Dragon
Drawn: Some time in January, 2013
Age: 14yrs

Used pencil to draft it first, and then black pen to ink it out (aww yeah).
After I inked it, I coloured it in with some water colouring pencils (which is much harder than I thought!)
I used one of Dawn's tutorials on Dragoart to draw this.
Thanks Dawn! :)

What is a Nengajou?

Happy New Year (akemashite omedetou)
Drawn: 2013!
Age: 14yrs

おめでとうございます!
Happy New Year!

In Japan, New Years is much more celebrated than Christmas. A traditional way to celebrate New Years day is to send a 'nengajou' to just about everybody you know! A nengajou is a new years greeting card. Typically, a nengajou will contain the chinese zodiac animal of the new year, a new years message, and symbols of the coming spring such as cherry blossom flowers.

Above is my personally designed nengajou.

Have a great year everyone!

The end of Summer

Purple Flower
Taken: 10 March 2013
Age: 15

The flower booming has come to an end! (In the Southern Hemisphere).
I have taken several photographs to capture the last few moments of Summer where the delicate flowers of the season are still visible. Summer this year was filled with a few hot days (43 degrees Celsius!) and a few rainy days that flooded many parts of Australia. Mmmm.... the sweet puffs of aroma is still vividly imprinted in my mind. :)

FUN FACT: Juice from bluebell flowers were historically used to make glue!

Drawn on gimp (I think?)
Why are all my recent post's titles rhyming?
I do not know.
It's always nice to just draw something with only one colour.
In fact, it's what I do best :)

Used a Reference to draw this.
Drawn on gimp using the pencil tool as the shadow which is why it looks so pixelated.
To all those Art users out there: Use the pencil tool from time to time! (it's super fun!)

Mmm...
If you ever get a manual camera, remember to have a play around with aperture and speed!!
